LEAPING BUNNY
No animal testing. Leaping Bunny is the only internationally recognized cruelty-free program. This standard is awarded to companies who prove that the finished products and the individual ingredients have not been tested on animals. I-N's compliance start date is September 2008.
USDA ORGANIC
The United States Department of Agriculture awards its seal to products whose total contents are 100% certified organic, or whose total contents are 95% certified organic where the remaining 5% of contents are drawn from a small, select number of ingredients that are not organically grown, and pose no known risk to health or environment.
GREEN-E
100% certified wind energy. Green-e® is a renewable energy program through the Center for Resource Solutions. I-N participates in the Green-e® Marketplace program. We purchase wind energy through the local utility for our Headquarters. I-N also purchases wind renewable energy certificates (RECs) for the energy used on our behalf by our manufacturing partners.
COSMOS ORGANIC & COSMOS NATURAL
The Cosmos Organic internationally recognized standard of organic and natural cosmetics requires 95% of the product’s agro-ingredients to be organically produced. The remaining ingredients must meet strict criteria to ensure that they are not damaging to our health or the environment. This standard also bans GMO, nano-ingredients, irradiation and animal testing.
The Cosmos Natural certification applies when some plant-based ingredients or essential oils are not available in certified organic, like the beloved jasmine. Although not required, the organic content % will be on the product label. We strive for a minimum of 65%.

Your refreshingly natural skin- or haircare products come either in a HDPE plastic bottle or in an infinitely recyclable glass bottle.
True, plastic is far from ideal. But for the time being we need to use it, until a better sustainable alternative comes along. HDPE plastic is ranked third in most demanded post consumer recycled plastics, and consists at least out of 65% recycled materials.
We do the best we can until we can do better
Horst Rechelbacher, before the driving force behind the vegan haircare brand AVEDA, is behind this wonderful beauty philosophy.
As an avid environmental actictivist, Horst wanted to practice what he preached. So he set out to create a beauty brand that had “green” and sustainability in its DNA.
After his passing in 2014, his life partner Kiran Stordalen and his daughter Nicole Rechelbacher took over. Continuing the work he had started in 2008.
